Idea of the Day: Composition of the G20

The G20's composition should be revisited every five years, starting in 2014, to ensure that changes over time in the global hierarchy of economic power are reflected at the table. In addition, countries facing U.N. sanctions should not be admitted. We believe future membership should be comprised of two countries from each of the world’s five regions and the subsequent 10 largest economies in the world.

Regional intergovernmental groups should become a permanent feature at future meetings alongside multilateral organizations that are relevant to the issue being discussed. These groups should attend with observer status.
