The health and safety of staff remains our priority. American Progress’ office is currently open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Most employees work a hybrid schedule that includes at least two days per week in the office. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 and levels of community spread and adjust plans as needed.

American Progress employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, except in limited circumstances in which an employee is legally entitled to a reasonable accommodation. All staff must have received a COVID-19 booster shot or plan to receive one within two weeks of eligibility after initial vaccination. All new hires will be required to provide proof of full vaccination including a booster dose, or request an exemption, no later than one week before the start of their employment.

Associate Director of Media Relations

Associate Director of Media Relations

Associate Director, Early Childhood Policy

American Progress has an immediate opening for an Associate Director on the Early Childhood Policy team in its Education department. The Associate Director will be responsible for the team’s state-based policy research, advocacy, and communications strategy. The Associate Director will work under the direction of the team lead for Early Childhood Policy to advance a progressive agenda for early childhood issues at the state and local level, although they may be called upon to assist with federal strategy as well. This will include work on child care, preschool, infant health, Head Start, and other issues affecting young children and their families. The successful candidate will help coordinate policy analysis and substantial research and writing for the team while also working regularly with state policymakers and advocacy partners to advance relevant ideas and issues.
