The health and safety of our staff remains our priority. American Progress’ office is currently open for employees to use on a voluntary basis. Effective March 7, 2022, staff will be expected to return to the office for a hybrid work schedule to include at least three days per week in our Washington, D.C., office. We will continue to monitor the current health emergency and adjust plans as needed in the future.

Effective November 30, 2021, all American Progress employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, except in limited circumstances where an employee is legally entitled to a reasonable accommodation. Effective January 31, 2022, all staff must have received a COVID-19 booster shot or plan to receive one within two weeks of eligibility. All new hires will be required to provide proof of full vaccination including a booster dose, or request an exemption, one week before the start of their employment.

Administrative and Project Coordinator/Associate, Structural Reform and Governance

American Progress has an immediate opening for an Administrative and Project Coordinator or Associate in the Structural Reform and Governance department at American Progress. The newly organized department incorporates three existing teams (Democracy Policy, Courts and Legal Policy, and Technology Policy) and is dedicated to taking swift action to strengthen the guardrails of democracy and doing so in a way that equips it to serve as a force for good. The Coordinator or Associate will be driven by American Progress’ mission “to improve the lives of all Americans, through bold, progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action, with the aim of not only changing the conversation, but changing the country.” The department’s work focuses on several priority areas, including ensuring that our democracy delivers for all Americans and that government and public institutions are efficient, effective, and aligned with democratic values; accessible to all Americans and representative of the people they serve; and transparent and accountable.

Administrative Associate, Office Services

Administrative Associate, Office Services

American Progress has an immediate opening for an Administrative Associate on the Office Services team within the Administration department. This position will provide front desk coverage in partnership with the team’s Facilities Assistant. This is a highly visible role serving as the first point of contact for all visitors, guests, and callers to the main reception area. The Administrative Associate is responsible for a broad range of administrative, clerical, and operational support for the organization and for the Office Services team. These tasks include but are not limited to: maintaining the department’s calendar; assisting with invoicing, collecting, and reconciling reimbursement requests; professionally answering and directing phone calls; and greeting, directing, and announcing guests. As part of the Office Services team, the Administrative Associate will assist with various routine administrative functions on a daily and as-needed basis. The Associate Director/Director will help lead American Progress’ efforts to develop, communicate, and implement policy ideas that provide a new way forward for a range of equity challenges in an increasingly diverse America, with a particular focus on race and equity. They will help coordinate policy analysis and substantial research and writing for the team while also working regularly on relevant ideas and issues with other American Progress teams. American Progress has an immediate opening in its Inclusive Growth department for an Associate Director or Director for Women’s Economic Security. This person will play a leadership role on the Women’s Initiative, advance policy proposals, and conduct original analyses in the areas of women’s economic security and gender equity. Specific policy issue areas of focus may include access to paid family and medical leave, equal pay, and employment discrimination. Broadcast Media Manager

Broadcast Media Manager

American Progress has an immediate opening for a Broadcast Media Manager. This position involves leading the organization’s radio and podcast strategy, including pitching, booking, and preparing staff for interviews on radio and podcasts. The Broadcast Media Manager will also serve as the lead producer of the Center for American Progress Action Fund’s podcast, “The Tent.” They will lead production meetings, edit and produce a new episode every week, oversee the podcast’s booking producer in securing guests, help prepare the host for interviews, brainstorm and execute ideas around promotion in conjunction with the podcast’s digital producer, and coordinate with other members of the Press team on overall production of the podcast. Additionally, the Broadcast Media Manager will oversee the use and management of American Progress’ radio studio.
