How are the rising gas prices impacting you personally?
"You can see the difference between what we're paying last year and what we're paying now. It's almost doubling your expense that you pay for your commute."
"I just don't use my car as much no more. I'd rather get on the train before I go somewhere."
"It absolutely will have a devastating impact on a lot of people in the economy."
"It just impedes where I have to go and things like that, like when my friends or anything I want to do something I haven't been able to because I was thinking, 'Oh crap, i have to pay three-something at the pump every time, so I'll just skip it this time.' So it's really impeding me socially and also when I go to work."
What do you think should be done about this?
"We need really to start thinking about other ways of fueling our economy besides gasoline-powered engines."
"I think we're a little bit in too deep, so it's not going to be easy to come up with a solution."
"I think a lot of time has past when we should have been doing something. We should have been doing a lot in the other energy areas to lessen the need for oil and gas. We ought to be imposing miles per gallon limits on a much faster pace than we're doing. There are a whole number of things that we should have done, that we're doing now, and like I said, it's a little bit late."
"More research into other forms of fuel. Because it's not going to change until we get out of the whole oil idea, because as much as we try to make treaties, or we start pumping in Alaska or something like that, it's just putting a band-aid on a cut and it's not going to fix the problem; it's just going to cover it up for a little while."
