Lindsay Mahowald is a research assistant with the LGBTQI+ Research and Communications Project at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Mahowald interned with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, writing literature reviews and creating statistical models for defense economics projects. She has also interned for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), assisting both with communications and policy research. Mahowald graduated with highest honors from Oberlin College in 2020 with a B.A. in politics and economics. She specializes in the quantitative analysis of social movements and public policy.
