Doug Turner is a senior fellow for Housing Policy at American Progress. Turner works on policies to expand affordable and secure housing opportunities for families while building communities and multigenerational wealth.

Prior to joining American Progress, Turner worked with government-sponsored enterprises and national nonprofit advocacy groups raising more than $1.5 billion in capital for affordable housing and creating more than 35,000 housing units. His pioneering work on revitalization for public housing and housing finance tools was recognized by The Bond Buyer.

As an advocate of the future of progressive Southern politics, Turner has served as senior strategic adviser to former Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) since 2016. Turner holds a bachelor’s degree from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
