Associate Director, Foundation Relations
Stefan Romberg is the Associate Director for Foundation Relations at American Progress. Prior to joining the Center, Stefan worked as grant writer at the National Parent Teacher Association. In this capacity he advised PTA’s program staff in managing existing foundation support while seeking new grant opportunities to improve parent and family engagement in the education, health, and well-being of children. Earlier, as development manager at TrueChild (formerly the GenderPAC) Stefan supported all fundraising efforts in order to ensure all children can achieve their full potential and not be held back by narrow stereotypes for boys and girls.
He has long held an interest in LGBT issues, particularly as they relate to gender stereotypes. After moving to Washington, D.C. in 2006, Stefan served two terms on the all-volunteer board of directors for the DC Youth Pride Alliance which organizes safe, empowering events for LGBT youth in the metro D.C. area including the annual Youth Pride Day.
Stefan received his B.A. in philosophy with a minor in English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
