Claudia Montecinos is an associate director of media relations at American Progress, where she works with the Immigration; Criminal Justice Reform; Politics and Elections; and Puerto Rico teams. She has worked in the public and private sectors designing and implementing communication strategies in English and Spanish.

Before joining American Progress, Montecinos was the account manager at Llorente & Cuenca, the leading communications firm for Latin America, in its Washington, D.C., office. Prior, she worked for the Organization of American States, where she was the press officer for several electoral observation missions throughout the Americas.

A former newspaper and TV reporter covering politics in her home country of Chile, Montecinos holds a degree in social communications and journalism from Universidad Diego Portales and was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Maryland, College Park.
