Nina Palmer is a senior fellow for China at American Progress. She focuses on U.S. foreign policy toward China and China’s energy, climate, technology, maritime, and governance policies.

Palmer has worked on China issues for more than a decade. Before joining American Progress, she worked as a senior director in the Albright Stonebridge Group’s China practice. She also spent a decade in government, where she served as the U.S. Energy attaché to China in Beijing and conducted China analysis at the U.S. departments of Energy and the Navy.

Palmer is concurrently an Argonne associate at the Argonne National Lab, where she conducts analysis on Asian science, technology, and nuclear energy policies. She is also a Pacific Forum young leader.

Palmer holds an M.A. in Asian studies from Georgetown, a graduate certificate from the Hopkins Nanjing Center, and a B.A. in East Asian studies from Smith College. She is professionally proficient in Mandarin.
