R. Darryl Banks is the Vice President for Energy Policy at the Center for American Progress.
Prior to joining American Progress, Banks served as the deputy director of the Nature Conservancy’s New York state affiliate. He also served as deputy commissioner of the New York State Department of Conservation, had a long tenure at the World Resources Institute, and held senior positions at a number of private-sector firms. Banks is a published author in the areas of renewable energy and clean energy technologies, carbon management, corporate sustainability, and environmental management services.
Banks has also served as president and owner of RBD Consulting since 2002. RBD Consulting is an energy and environmental sustainability strategy firm with principal-level technical expertise in renewable energy and clean energy technologies and environmental management oversight. In this role he worked with clients from the corporate, academic, and philanthropic communities to develop sustainable strategies as well as promote education and involvement in the environmental sciences.
In 2008 Banks was appointed O.B.E., Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He was also a Rhodes Scholar with degrees from Coe College and research at Oxford University.
