The Friendship House Association of American Indians is using Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funds to take a holistic approach to environmental justice. These federal funds—alongside state and private funding—will support the building of Village SF, an inter-Tribal community project that will help Native peoples in the San Francisco Bay Area reconnect with nature, their culture, and their community.
The IRA and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act have delivered at least $148 billion to clean up pollution and improve public health in front-line communities. This funding is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Justice40 Initiative, which aims to ensure that at least 40 percent of federal climate, clean energy, and infrastructure investments benefit Black, brown, and Indigenous communities and low-income areas.
