Tim Daly is the Director for Campaigns, Guns and Crime, at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Daly served as the interim chief of staff and legislative director to Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), where he was responsible for developing and planning Rep. Thompson’s legislative agenda, overseeing Rep. Thompson’s Washington, D.C. and district staff, and directing the House Democratic Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, which Rep. Thompson chairs.
Prior to joining Rep. Thompson’s staff in June 2010, Daly served as a fellow in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia from 2009 to 2010; campaign manager and finance director for the Peter Franchot for Maryland state comptroller campaign from 2006 to 2009; and as communications director for Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) from 2004 to 2006. Over the past 10 years, Daly has also consulted on several other political and ballot issue campaigns throughout Maryland and New York.
Originally from Albany, New York, Daly graduated with honors and a degree in government and politics and economics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2004. Daly also graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2010, and is admitted to the bar in New York state and the District of Columbia.
