Katie Peters

Associate Director, Press Relations

Katie Peters is the Associate Director for Press Relations and Planning at American Progress, with a portfolio focusing on economic, education, and health care policy.

Prior to joining American Progress’s communications team, Katie served as the vice president of communications for First Focus, a national child advocacy organization. In this capacity she was responsible for all aspects of the organization’s media outreach, including regular interaction with national media, trade press, and local media throughout the 50 states. Katie also oversaw marketing and branding initiatives in addition to website and publication development.

Katie has also served as the youth engagement coordinator for the America’s Promise Alliance where she led the organization’s commitment to engage students as advocates. In this role, Katie developed youth leadership curricula, trained and supervised the work of national student leaders, and facilitated leadership workshops for students across the country.

Originally from Green Bay, Katie graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in education and German.
