Jenny DeMonte is the Associate Director for Education Research at American Progress. Her research work focuses on school and instructional improvement, teacher preparation and teacher quality, and measuring teaching and learning. Prior to joining American Progress, she was public affairs manager at the University of Michigan School of Education, where she helped staff the council charged with designing a teacher evaluation system.
She was also a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan School of Education, where she worked on several projects, including the Measures of Effective Teaching project as part of a team designing measures of teacher knowledge for teaching English language arts.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and a master’s and Ph.D. in educational research and policy from the University of Michigan.
