Since 1938, it has been legal to pay disabled people subminimum wages. This comment submitted to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division states that the Center for American Progress supports the agency’s proposed new rule to phase out Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which would eliminate subminimum wages for disabled workers.
