Giovanni Rocco is the press associate for Generation Progress. Before joining Generation Progress, Rocco was a field organizer with the Florida Democratic Party in Broward County, where he mobilized hundreds of volunteers on behalf of progressive issues and candidates. Previously, he advocated for LGBTQ rights on his college campus as the executive director of the Pride Student Union. There, he focused on revamping the organization’s social media presence; developing relationships with ally organizations; and creating more queer and trans-affirming health, housing, and sports polices. He was a communications intern for former Rep. Gwen Graham (D-FL) in 2015 and a communications intern for Chile’s Ministry of Mining in 2014.
Rocco was born in Arica, Chile, and raised in Hollywood, Florida. He graduated from Florida State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in political science and a Bachelor of Arts in media studies. He enjoys baking, hiking with friends, and finding the perfect filter for his Instagram pictures.
