Adam James

Research Assistant

Adam James is a Research Assistant for Energy and Environmental Policy at American Progress, where his work focuses on the transition to a clean energy economy and climate mitigation. His areas of expertise include renewable deployment, energy efficiency, smart grid, climate negotiations, finance, and infrastructure. Adam is also the executive director of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute, a D.C.-based organization devoted to involving more young people in clean energy policy.

Prior to joining American Progress, Adam worked as a Research Assistant to Andrew Light and contributed to the second editions of both Environmental Ethics and Environmental Pragmatism. Adam also held the position of assistant coach to the George Mason University policy debate team.

Adam received his B.A. in philosophy from George Mason University, where his studies included environmental ethics, legal studies, and government. He was also an active participant on the policy debate team and received the university’s Debater of the Year award.
