PRESS CALL ADVISORY: Virginia Leaders Highlight New Poll Showing African American and Hispanic Virginia Women Want Candidates to Prioritize Family Economic Issues

Washington, D.C. — In the wake of the Virginia primary election and as the nation heads into the general presidential election, the Center for American Progress and New Virginia Majority will host a press call with Delegate Charniele Herring and Sylvia Manzano of Latino Decisions highlighting the need for 2016 candidates to prioritize key family economic security issues that disproportionately effect African American and Hispanic women in Virginia.

A new poll of Hispanic and African American women in Virginia, a key portion of the state’s electorate, shows overwhelmingly support and an increased likelihood to vote for a candidate that champions policies that give them a fair shot to make ends meet, including and particularly equal pay, paid family leave, affordable child care, and paid sick days.
