New York — Neera Tanden, President of the Center for American Progress, will discuss higher education, inequality, and inclusive prosperity at The New York Times Schools for Tomorrow conference, taking place at the Times Center in Manhattan this week.
Tanden will give a talk at 10:10 a.m. ET today highlighting CAP’s College for All plan. College for All would provide every student sufficient financial support so that all students and their families know that they can afford college. College for All is aimed at improving college accessibility and affordability, but would also ensure the United States’ economic competitiveness for future generations.
CAP’s College for All proposal expands on a provision included in a recent report from the Commission on Inclusive Prosperity, or IPC, a trans-Atlantic board convened by CAP; composed of high-level American and international policymakers, economists, business leaders, and labor representatives; and focused on finding ways to expand the middle class through inclusive economic growth. The IPC’s report calls for aggressive action to expand postsecondary education opportunities for all Americans.
According to The New York Times, the conference will bring together some 400 influential leaders from higher education and the public and private sectors—including senior administrators at colleges and universities, investors, and government officials—to discuss key issues in higher education.
