Associate Director/Director, Foundation Relations

American Progress seeks a self-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to multitask to join a growing team with a successful record of fundraising for the position of Associate Director or Director of Foundation Relations. This individual will be responsible for a grant-seeking portfolio that generates $7 million to $15 million in annual revenue for American Progress. They will pursue and capitalize on emerging opportunities for foundation funding and will help produce written communications for the organization. Policy Analyst, Criminal Justice Reform

American Progress has an immediate opening for a Policy Analyst on the Criminal Justice Reform team. The Criminal Justice Reform team is dedicated to developing policies that (1) shrink the footprint of the criminal justice system while improving public health and safety; (2) promote equity and accountability within the justice system; and (3) provide opportunities for people directly impacted by a criminal conviction. The team’s work stems from principles of fair laws and enforcement of laws; just and proportional responses to crime; comprehensive investments in safety outside of the justice system; and data- and evidence-driven solutions. The Policy Analyst will be primarily responsible for leading a new bail reform campaign initiative, which will leverage American Progress’ multidisciplinary policy expertise, comprehensive communications and outreach apparatus, and relationships with elected officials at all levels of government to shape the debate around bail reform and support urgently needed reforms at the state level. The Policy Analyst/Senior Policy Analyst for Foreign Interference on the National Security and International Policy team is responsible for researching and writing on issues including, but not limited to, foreign interference in democratic states, transatlantic cooperation to build democratic resilience and counter threats to democracy, and Russian foreign policy and its foreign interference efforts. This position will work directly with American Progress’ Structural Reform/Democracy departments and will build on and help continue the substantial work the organization has done on Russia’s malign interference in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Research Assistant, Immigration Policy

American Progress has an immediate opening for a Research Assistant to conduct quantitative research for the Immigration Policy team. Quantitative and economic analysis is central to much of the research conducted by the Immigration team at American Progress, and this position will play an integral role in executing that work. Research Assistant, Women’s Economic Security

The Research Assistant assists the Women’s Initiative team by providing research support as needed, primarily on topics related to women’s economic security issues including equal pay and the gender wage gap, paid leave, gender-based employment discrimination such as sexual harassment, and other gender-based barriers to women’s advancement in the workplace. The successful candidate will be guided by CAP’s mission “to improve the lives of all Americans, through bold, progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action, with the aim of not only changing the conversation, but changing the country.” Research on additional issues related to women’s equality—from women’s leadership, to women’s health and rights, to broader economic, employment, or equity issues that can affect women’s daily lives—may also be needed.
