The State of Salary Range Transparency Laws

While the salary range transparency movement is growing at the state level, more action is needed to introduce, pass, and enact permanent laws.

A new effort for employers to disclose salary ranges is growing at the state level. With salary range transparency laws, the United States can take a step toward reducing the gender pay gap and improving women’s economic security. This movement can help erase the culture of pay secrecy and create an environment that allows women to better negotiate their salaries with more information. While several states have already taken this step, more action is needed to introduce, pass, and enact salary range transparency laws.
