‘Safer Internet Day’ Event Recap

Join leading experts for a thought-provoking discussion on how to navigate the digital world on this year's Safer Internet Day.

Each year, Safer Internet Day provides a great occasion to raise awareness of emerging online issues and to work together to reduce online harm. In the United States, despite divided government, there is broad bipartisan consensus on the need to protect Americans’ privacy and children’s safety online.

What are these digital threats and their impacts on society, democracy, and physical and mental health? Is there an American way to guarantee both safety and free speech on the internet? What does it mean that soon Europeans will have far more protections online from major American Big Tech companies than American families do?

Please join the Center for American Progress for conversations with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Commissioner Alvaro Bedoya, member of European Parliament Sandro Gozi, CAP President and CEO Patrick Gaspard, and former member of French Parliament and CAP Senior Fellow Laetitia Avia.
