The Center for American Progress mourns the loss of The Honorable Robin Cook, former British foreign secretary and House of Commons leader. With his death, progressives around the world have lost a friend, ally, and leader. Robin was a principled politician and intellectual who epitomized what the international progressive movement is all about: peace, security, and justice. We had the tremendous pleasure of working closely with Robin through Global Progress, a partnership he initiated among progressive international leaders seeking cooperative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Robin led the charge on our efforts – from our work on preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction to asserting the international community’s responsibility to protect the world’s most vulnerable. Robin’s commitment to humanity will inspire us for years to come. We will miss him dearly.
