Offshore Wind Development in Maine Is a Collaborative Effort

Building off the success of the Inflation Reduction Act, a coalition of labor unions, green nongovernmental organizations, and community leaders came together to advocate for the inclusion of strong labor standards in the build-out of offshore wind in Maine.

The Biden-Harris administration has made an equitable and just transition to a clean energy economy a priority, an effort which includes a national offshore wind goal of deploying 30 gigawatts by 2030. A recent push by state leaders and advocates to develop offshore wind in the Gulf of Maine provided an opportunity to revitalize coastal areas through a transition to a clean energy economy. Building off the success of the Inflation Reduction Act, a coalition of labor unions, green nongovernmental organizations, and community leaders came together to advocate for the inclusion of strong labor standards in this build-out.
