The Equality Act clarifies and expands our nation’s civil rights laws to ensure explicit and comprehensive nondiscrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people nationwide. This legislation is urgently needed to address the pervasive discrimination experienced by this community on a daily basis.
