The Center for American Progress and Progress 2050 recently hosted a conversation on the importance of black media and uplifting the voices of black journalists during the Trump administration.

On Monday, August 14, 2017, the Center for American Progress and Progress 2050 hosted a conversation on the power of the black media and journalists during the Trump administration, featuring a panel of distinguished guests that included Jamelle Bouie, chief political correspondent at Slate Magazine; Joe Madison, host of “The Joe Madison Show” on SiriusXM Urban View; Denise Rolark Barnes, publisher of The Washington Informer; and Yamiche Alcindor, national politics and social justice reporter for The New York Times. The panel was moderated by Jason Johnson, professor, politics editor at The Root, and an MSNBC contributor.

The conversation touched on the importance of black media and uplifting the voices of black journalists during the Trump administration. The panelists highlighted challenges they have always faced as people of color in the media world, as well as newfound opportunities and ways that they are leveraging their power.
