STATEMENT: CAP’s Topher Spiro on Trump’s ‘Meaningless’ Executive Order on the Affordable Care Act

Washington, D.C. — Center for American Progress Vice President for Health Policy Topher Spiro issued the following statement on President Donald Trump’s executive order on the Affordable Care Act.

This executive order on the Affordable Care Act appears to be meaningless campaign messaging. The law is not a burden to the 22 million Americans who would not have health insurance without it. It is not a burden to women who have access to free contraceptive coverage. It is not a burden to millions with employer coverage who no longer have lifetime limits on their coverage. Rather than stoking anxiety, President Trump should ease the burden on the minds of millions by removing the threat of a partisan rush to repeal the law.
