EVENT ADVISORY: Sen. Chris Van Hollen To Discuss Tax Fairness in Reconciliation at CAP

Washington, D.C. — With the Senate having passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill and now the reconciliation resolution, Democrats in the Senate will lead on finally bringing fairness back to the tax code as part of President Joe Biden’s agenda to “Build Back Better.” Extreme income and tax inequality have held back economic growth for years, and Americans overwhelmingly support closing loopholes for the superrich and corporations that often pay virtually no taxes. The revenue from the Build Back Better agenda could also pay for deeply important provisions in reconciliation legislation to support families and even greater growth.

Please join the Center for American Progress for a conversation featuring Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations committees and a leading budget expert in the Senate, to discuss the specifics of the options available to restore tax fairness and raise revenue for the coming reconciliation legislation.
