ADVISORY: CAP to Host a Conversation with Secretary John B. King, Jr.

Washington, D.C. — On Wednesday, December 14, the Center for American Progress will host Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr. for remarks on the future of the nation’s education system. The Every Student Succeeds Act, or ESSA, provides states with an opportunity and obligation to design new accountability systems and improve educational outcomes to ensure every student is ready to succeed in college and in their career. The nation’s Founding Fathers all recognized the importance of education to freedom and liberty, and there is no greater investment to the nation’s future than an education system that benefits all students, families, and communities. Hear from Secretary King about the importance of public education and what it means for the strength of the nation’s democracy and economy.
