Ce que l’élection de Biden signifie pour la Tunisie

Author Gordon Gray explains what the recent U.S. election will mean for Tunisians.

The November 3 U.S. election illustrates that today’s American and Tunisian voters share the same concerns: anxiety about the pandemic, a desire for a stronger economy, and a preference for stability over chaos. By electing former Vice President Joe Bidenthe majority of American voters expressed their deep distress about the COVID-19 pandemic and the state of the economy and rejected President Donald Trump’s incompetent governing style.

Daunting domestic challenges will make it difficult for any one country to garner attention; Tunisian issues will be competing for attention within a crowded policy arena. Consequently, Tunisians will have to articulate clearly and frequently to the incoming administration—and the American public—the value of continued U.S. support for their country’s transition and why it remains important for the citizens of both nations.
