In President Joe Biden’s inauguration speech, he made clear that “we will be judged, you and I, for how we resolve the cascading crises of our era,” including the climate crisis, economic inequity, and more. The Inflation Reduction Act is the most consequential legislation in decades in response to those challenges: The act represents the largest investment in climate change in U.S. history, will lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs for tens of millions of Americans, and will close major tax loopholes that have allowed wealthy corporations and individuals to avoid paying their fair share.
