A Focus on Women’s Economic Empowerment

12:00 - 1:30 PM EDT

Women’s economic empowerment is a truly transformational goal, one that has the potential to reap rewards across many objectives—notably in ending poverty, boosting economic growth, and reducing violence.
The Coca-Cola Company’s 5by20 initiative seeks to enable the economic empowerment of 5 million women entrepreneurs across the company’s global value chain by 2020. Through this initiative, Coca-Cola works with small businesses—from fruit farmers to retailers to artisans—in more than 200 countries by developing and implementing programs that enable women entrepreneurs to overcome barriers to economic success. These programs include training courses, access to financial services, and access to support networks of peers or mentors.

Please join the Center for American Progress for a discussion with these experts to discuss women’s economic empowerment and its impact on the post-2015 development agenda.
