Lower Costs Through Better Competition

Please join the Center for American Progress for an event featuring FTC Chair Lina Khan and Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) about protecting consumers and preserving competition.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has been at the forefront of the Biden-Harris administration’s whole-of-government approach to improving competition. The FTC’s agenda to bolster competition includes measures that will lower costs for American families, challenging junk patent listings that raise the cost of prescription drugs, curbing hidden fees on items such as hotel bookings and concert tickets, improving pricing transparency, simplifying the process to cancel subscription services, and uprooting price-fixing schemes. Notably, the FTC has taken action to halt anticompetitive practices that increase the cost of housing, filing complaints against companies for price-fixing in the rental market and violating truth-in-advertising standards.
