A Briefing on the Freedom to Marry Campaign

2:00 - 4:00 PM EDT

The breathtaking pace of victories on marriage for same-sex couples has captured the attention of activists and elected officials nationwide. The Center for American Progress invites you to join us for a briefing with Freedom to Marry that will highlight lessons learned from the efforts to win marriage equality and how those lessons can be helpful to other progressive groups and causes.

Over the course of the last year, the Center for American Progress, in conjunction with Grassroots Solutions, conducted a comprehensive study of the historic 2012 marriage campaigns as majorities in Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, and Washington voted in favor of equality and dignity for all loving and committed families. Those wins helped propel the momentum we’ve witnessed in courts and legislatures ever since. They were the result of years of advocacy and electoral work both nationally and in the states. We’ll be releasing our comprehensive report discussing the strategies, coalitions, and arguments that have helped turn the tide at this briefing, and hearing from the leaders behind this multi-year strategy.
