What Is Public Health?

Public health interventions such as ensuring clean air and water, monitoring food safety, providing health guidance, and developing vaccines keep all people safe and healthy. Public health functions largely in the background to promote health and protect all people from threats such as emerging diseases and the effects of climate change. But the system has consistently been underfunded and strained. Now is the time to create sustainable investments in public health so the country is better prepared for the next inevitable health threat.
