Led by the Center for American Progress, this letter requests that the Biden administration establish an interagency working group housed in the Department of Education that would ultimately provide a report with policy recommendations and suggested legislation to modernize, diversify, and elevate the teaching profession. This working group would include deputy secretaries from several federal agencies and would seek the feedback and perspectives of students, families, educators, researchers, and state and local elected officials from around the country.
