Only Bold Action From Congress Will Solve the Child Care Crisis

Long-term investments in a new birth-to-five early learning system will be critical to a strong economic recovery.

America faces a decadeslong child care crisis intensified by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Parents can’t return to work due to the lack of options for and the rising cost of child care. Meanwhile, the industry faces a severe workforce shortage due to low pay, which is putting child care centers out of business. The lack of access to affordable, quality child care makes it harder for parents to work and impedes America’s economic growth and competitiveness. This is why Congress must pass a bold, sustainable solution for affordable, accessible, quality child care now.
