Fertilizer and diesel prices have spiked to record highs due to the war in Iran, making it difficult for American farmers such as Aaron Lehman to grow their crops and make a living, and consumers are paying more for the food that they eat.

Born and raised in Polk County, Iowa, Aaron Lehman is a fifth-generation family farmer. Farmers facing high fertilizer and diesel costs due to President Donald Trump’s war of choice in Iran are having to raise prices just to get by and hope that costs will come down by next year’s growing season so they can continue to farm.. When the cost to grow things increases, it will be felt across the entire food supply chain, meaning the worst effects on Americans’ food costs may still be ahead.
