The Center for American Progress is and always has been pro-Israel, committed to a peace process that produces a durable two-state solution negotiated by the parties, and it takes seriously the threat posed by Iran and its nuclear activities. The overwhelming record from hundreds of our articles, posts, and policy papers demonstrates our support for the longstanding bipartisan consensus that the two-state solution is in the moral and national security interests of the United States. We strongly support President Barack Obama’s efforts to dissuade Iran from pursuing nuclear weapons or preventing it from obtaining them.
We have a zero-tolerance policy on anti-Semitism. We have written critically about its continuing use in contemporary political debates, and we take any allegation of anti-Semitism extremely seriously. A very small number of tweets on the personal accounts of ThinkProgress staff were inappropriate, and the authors have publicly apologized for using objectionable language. That language never appeared in any CAP or ThinkProgress publication, and we have taken steps to ensure that all CAP staff maintain the highest standards in their communications even in their personal social media accounts.
It is disappointing that in spite of our clear record and our recent actions, we continue to face political attacks that attempt to discredit our entire body of work on critical national security issues. We remain committed to the principles and progressive values we have always espoused and will continue to promote policies we believe to be in the national security interests of the United States and our allies.
