Description of rooms
Main Events Center
The primary event space at the Center for American Progress, the space features a wheelchair-accessible stage, podium, large display screens on either side, and film projection capabilities, along with a state-of-the-art sound system. With theater capacities of 50–90, along with classroom setup for 50 or cocktail for 150, this is CAP’s most flexible space.
For very large events, the Main Events Center can be combined with Events East for even more audience capacity.
Events East Conference Room
Events East is CAP’s largest room with built-in video conferencing tech. With a microphone array built into the ceiling and large screens on either end, the space is ready for you to plug-and-play to have virtual participants in your board meeting, retreat, or strategy session.
A retractable glass partition wall separates Events East from the Main Events Center and can be opened to combine the spaces for more capacity.
Chesapeake Conference Room and Staff Lounge
With a hollow square capacity of 20 at the table, plus another 12–15 on the perimeter, Chesapeake Room is a great option for your smaller meetings and retreats, while still having natural light and built-in videoconferencing capabilities. Located on the second floor of CAP’s space, Chesapeake and the adjoining Staff Lounge are accessible through CAP’s main staircase, and handicap access is handled through our lobby elevators with staff escort.
Radio Studio
The Radio Studio is a quiet, intimate setting ideal for recording podcasts, radio interviews, and other professional-grade audio and video content. It features a conference table that comfortably sits four people, microphones, headphones, lighting, two wall-mounted televisions, wraparound acoustic foam panels, and space for tripod-mounted cameras. Located on the first floor of CAP’s space, the Radio Studio and adjacent Green Room are handicap accessible and can be accessed down the hall from CAP’s main lobby with staff escort.
