Washington, D.C. — Today, the Biden administration joined with 11 governors to launch a new federal-state offshore wind partnership to accelerate the growing offshore wind industry. In response, Miriam Goldstein, senior director for Conservation Policy and a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:
This is exactly the kind of regional coordination we need to scale up the offshore wind in a smart way. Building a robust and responsibly sited offshore wind industry will bring us closer to meeting our ambitious clean energy goals, boost the economy, create good union jobs, and contribute to protecting the ocean from the worst effects of climate change.
Mike Williams, a senior fellow on CAP’s Domestic Climate team, issued the following statement:
This agreement is another example of the Biden administration collaborating with states to expand offshore wind capacity while driving economic development, creating new union jobs, and building new domestic supply chains to support it. These investments in clean wind energy will lower energy prices and boost our nation’s energy independence.
