Washington, D.C. — Today, President Joe Biden signed a series of executive orders to bolster the government’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Maura Calsyn, interim vice president of Health Policy at CAP, released the following statement:
By taking swift action on his first full day in office, President Biden is hitting the reset button on the federal government’s commitment to ending the pandemic. These executive orders will provide additional resources to states, shore up testing and vaccine-related supply chains, and ensure greater transparency in COVID-19 data collection and reporting, among other steps. To save countless lives and jobs, it’s critical that Congress move with the same speed to pass the COVID-19 relief package that President Biden outlined last week.
