STATEMENT: CAP’s Frances Colón Praises Biden’s Global Climate Commitments

Washington, D.C. – Today, at a meeting with world leaders of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, President Joe Biden announced action to reduce methane emissions, accelerate the deployment of zero-emission vehicles, speed up production of clean technology, decarbonize shipping, and make fertilizers more efficient. In response, Frances Colón, senior director for International Climate Policy at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

These commitments show the world that the United States remains a global climate leader by taking action to tackle the climate crisis at home and abroad. President Biden is challenging other world leaders to join the United States in going further and faster to address climate change in ways that bolster food production and improve energy security. It’s time for Congress to follow through and make the investments we need to build a clean energy economy.
