Washington, D.C. — Please join the Center for American Progress on Friday, October 26 for an exclusive one-on-one conversation with one of the foremost advocates for strengthening the U.S. – India partnership: Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns. On the heels of his recent visit to India, Secretary Burns will discuss the importance of the India partnership, challenges and opportunities, as well as the agenda and key pillars of the relationship in the months and year ahead.
America’s relationship with India continues to be of critical strategic and economic importance to the United States. With the Administration’s rebalance toward Asia, there may be no more important partner for the U.S. than India, as both countries aim to counter common threats and build upon their shared values.
This is latest in a series of events CAP has hosted focusing on India. In advance of the U.S. – India Strategic Dialogue this past summer, CAP hosted a discussion with the U.S. Ambassador to India, Ms. Nancy Powell, and the Indian Ambassador to the United States, Ms. Nirupama Rao, and published “Turning Words Into Action – Next Steps in the U.S. India Strategic Partnership.”
