ADVISORY: Gabby Giffords, Neera Tanden, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar to Discuss the Intersection Between Gun Violence and Violence Against Women at Panel

Recent events, such as the mass shooting in Isla Vista, California, have shown that women are too often the targets of gun violence. Every day, five women are murdered with guns in the United States, a large percentage of whom are killed by their intimate partners. Enacting strong laws and policies to prevent domestic abusers from having easy access to guns is critical to reducing murders of women. Such laws are both politically popular and have proven policy impact. Momentum has been building on both the state and federal levels to enact strong new gun laws to better protect women—particularly, victims of domestic violence and stalking—from fatal gun violence.

Please join the Center for American Progress, Americans for Responsible Solutions, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline for a panel on policy solutions to protect women from fatal gun violence.
