Veteran-Employment Programs
How to Build Effective Programs and Make an Impact
Please join us for a Business Alliance discussion with:
Rep. Tim Walz, (D-MN)
Patrick Murphy, Senior Fellow, Center for American Progress
According to estimates from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for Gulf War II-era veterans—those who have served since 9/11—was 9.9 percent in 2012. That’s an improvement over 2011, when the rate was over 12 percent, but it still means that 1 in 10 recent veterans can’t find a job, and it is well above the national unemployment rate of 7.9 percent. Join Rep. Tim Walz (D-MN) and CAP Senior Fellow, former Congressman, and decorated U.S. Army veteran Patrick Murphy (D-PA) for the April Business Alliance roundtable. This off-the-record conversation will focus on successful veteran-employment programs and how the private sector can build initiatives focused on returning veterans to the workforce.
* Breakfast and coffee will be served at 8:45 a.m. The discussion will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
