U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, (D-RI)
Neera Tanden, President and CEO, Center for American Progress
Michael Conathan, Director of Ocean Policy, Center for American Progress

Thursday, April 18, 2013, 8:30 a.m.* – 9:30 a.m.

According to the 2010 Census, more than half of all Americans now live in coastal watershed counties, which boast a population density more than five times greater than inland areas. These shore-adjacent counties contribute more than $6 trillion to our gross domestic product and support more than 44 million jobs. For many industries that operate in these regions, healthy oceans and coasts are more than a pleasant amenity; they are an economic imperative. Join us for a private off-the-record conversation with American Progress experts, U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and other industry leaders to find out how corporations are implementing programs that recognize the value inherent in some of America’s most beloved natural resources.

*Breakfast and coffee served at 8:15 a.m. Discussion begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
