On Wednesday, July 24, the Center for American Progress co-sponsored an event for U.S. members of Congress, their staff, and the media as an alternative to the address of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Jim McGovern (D-MA) delivered opening remarks. CAP President and CEO Patrick Gaspard and Breaking the Silence Executive Director Nadav Weiman discussed their recent time together in the West Bank. Palestinian activist Aziz Abu Sarah and Israeli peace activist Maoz Inon delivered a message of hope and shared their charter for peace; Inon lost both of his parents in the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, while Aziz Abu Sarah’s brother was tortured in Israeli prisons and died of his injuries. Win Without War Executive Director Sara Haghdoosti moderated the session.
