Housing Finance Reform: What Does It Mean for Rental Housing?

12:30 - 2:00 PM EST

Please join us to hear Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan share his views on the future of housing finance in America, including multifamily finance and the future of affordable rental housing.

Five years after the financial crisis, we are still debating how and if to create a new system of housing finance reform to replace Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. While this debate often focuses on homeownership, reform also has significant importance for the future of rental housing. How can we best ensure access to financing for affordable rental in all geographies and through all business cycles?

Secretary Donovan’s remarks will be followed by an expert panel that will discuss in more detail the current system of multifamily finance and the implications of legislative and regulatory proposals now being discussed.
