Race, Violence, and Access to the American Dream

Center for American Progress
4:00 - 5:30 PM EDT

When three-time Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning choreographer, director, and writer Debbie Allen created “Freeze Frame”—a multimedia dance, music, and theater production—she used the lens of the arts to help audiences examine the complex issues of gun violence, poverty, race relations, and criminal justice.

Join the Center for American Progress, Debbie Allen, and a panel of community leaders and change-makers as they explore the real-life stories, advocacy, and efforts that inspire productions such as “Freeze Frame,” as well as policy recommendations that can help create change.

Featured panelists:

Debbie Allen, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning choreographer, director, and writer

Lucia McBath, Faith and Community Outreach Leader, Everytown for Gun Safety

Layla Zaidane, Managing Director, Generation Progress

Jose Osuna, Director of External Affairs, Homeboy Industries

DeJuan Patterson, Community Activist and Consultant, BeMore Group
