Our Supporters

The Center for American Progress advances its mission to improve the lives of all Americans with the philanthropic support of generous individual, foundation, corporate, and other partners.

In 2025, the Center for American Progress received 95.7 percent of its charitable contributions from individuals and foundations, 2.1 percent from labor unions, and less than 2.2 percent from corporations. Foreign government funding comprised 0.2 percent of these categories.

Our policy work is independent and driven by solutions that we believe will create a more equitable and just country. Corporate and foreign government donors may not fund specific research or objectives, and we continue to not accept funding from nondemocratic governments.

CAP’s current donor disclosure policy:

The Trump administration is actively targeting leaders and institutions that have challenged the president’s actions. As a result, CAP made the decision early in 2025 to no longer publish a donor honor roll.

We believe this was a prudent step in order to protect those who could be targeted for contributing to causes with which people in power disagree. However, this shift does not signal a change in CAP’s posture about donor influence: Our work will remain independent from donor interests. Moreover, this is a temporary protective step, and in a future administration that supports the rule of law, we would once again publish an honor roll.
